Scenographia at ICAA Live Art & Garden Party

  • Craig Bergmann Landscape Design, Inc. (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Human cognition is deeply rooted in our connection to nature. The evolution of hand drawing provided humans with a means to capture and preserve their environment, with the result being a tangible understanding of their perception of the world around them. Scenographia will celebrate the human relationship to nature through a marathon live-drawing event at Craig Bergmann’s gardens. Architects Matt McNicholas and Tom Rajkovich will complete an original composition inspired by the beauty of nature in front of a live audience. All attendees are encouraged to participate in the celebration of hand drawing by bringing their sketchbooks and favorite drawing medium to preserve their own interpretation of the gardens. The incorporation of both the artists and the audience as equal participants in the creation is intended to foster appreciation for the experiential, originative, and artistic nature of hand-drawing and encourage the continued practice of this universal human endeavor in an increasingly digital world.

Scenographia at Treasures from Chatsworth

Creativity. Craftsmanship. Beauty. Entering the world through the human hand, these characteristics of drawing bring vibrancy and wonder into our lives. In conjunction with the ICAA, Scenographia will host a marathon live-drawing event to celebrate the human capacity to create. Staged before a live audience, architects Matt McNicholas and Elizabeth McNicholas will hand-draw an original composition inspired by the Sotheby’s Treasures from Chatsworth collection. The completion of the mural over the course of two days will demonstrate the value hand-drawing provides in preserving the human imagination in an interpretive and tangible form. By incorporating both the artists and the audience as equal participants in the creation, Scenographia at Treasures of Chatsworth will simultaneously act as a performance and exhibition in celebration of the experiential, originative, and artistic nature of hand-drawing and human endeavor.
